An exchange student from Europe recently told me that she found my blog, and she thinks I should stop making fun of Japanese accents, i.e. “it’s rerry complicated” from the cell phone post.

/So let’s be clear: Just because a Japanese person speaks less-than-fluent English does not mean that they’re an idiot or whatever. And just because I mention their accents doesn’t mean I’m really “making fun of them” anyway. And hey, I have problems speaking Japanese, as I mentioned in previous posts.

/
/Besides, noting the lack-of-English-skills doesn’t really seem that bad when the Japanese freely admit to it anyway. Here’s a couple pictures from class, when a teacher was introducing himself via powerpoint:

You know, Japanese tell you about their lacking language skills, because they DON’T want you to make fun of them. They know their weak points, so it’s considered rude to pick on them. It’s nothing more then making fun of them :/ Pls, think about it.
