Missing the last train home

Something you should know: All the trains shut down at midnight.

/
/Well, ok, a few of them might run till 1AM or something. But basically, if you’re not home by midnight, you’re kinda screwed. (Trains start again around 5 or 6AM, I think)
/
/
/
/There was one time I missed the last train home. I was heading back from a party with friends, and at one stop the friends all got off to transfer to another train, and I followed them without realizing that I needed a different train than they did. By the time I figured that out, the last train home had left, and I was stranded.

/
/
/So I went to talk to the station guy about my options. I hoped there would be a nearby capsule hotel. These are special hotels built explicitly for the I-just-missed-the-last-train-home market. They’re cheap, but the room you get is less of a room and more of a sleeping pod. As in, they stack these things on top of each other:

/
/Well they didn’t have any of those near that station. Fortunately, I was only one stop down from home, so I figured maybe I could walk. The guy told me this would take half an hour, and explained where to go.
/
/
/
/So I took a dozen pictures of his map, bought a bottled water to sustain myself, and walked out of the station.

/
/
/Once outside, I quickly discovered a taxi, which was much more convenient way to get home. (It cost about $8).

/
/
/So the moral of the story is: don’t miss the last train, and if you do try to find a capsule hotel, or take a taxi.

So people actually sleep in that capsule thing? That looks kind of scary to me!

  • Hey, nice post. I think this is perfect especially when you have missed the last train. But this looks little bit scary. At last this is good because something is better than nothing.
