So I’m gonna fly…

Recently, I’ve been thinking of Kiki’s Delivery Service. Specifically, the ending theme of the 1998 english dub, “”I’m Gonna Fly”.
/
/
/
/That’s what I’m doing today. I’m flying to Japan. I’m seeking freedom. I’m similar to Kiki; leaving home so I can learn to live on my own terms.
/
/
/
/Kiki has a black cat named Jiji. I have a black cat named Jiji. This should give you some indication of how much I love this film.
/
/
/
/My itinerary is as follows:
/
/
/
/4:00AM Get up
/
/5:00 Arrive at Ohare Airport, Chicago
/
/6:00 Depart for Texas (yes, I’m going through Texas to get to Japan)
/
/8:30 Arrive at Dallas/Fort Worth (what, is the airport so big that it covers 2 cities?)
/
/9:50 Depart for Japan (yay!)
/
/1:10PM Thursday (local time, that’s like 11:10PM Wednesday over here) ARRIVE IN JAPAN
/
/1:30ish get picked up by students from my new school, Tokyo Gakugei Univeristy
/
/4:30ish arrive at said university (apparently it’s a 3 hour drive from the airport.)
/
/
/
/I have a traveling companion, going to the same school as me, so that helps. I’m not particularly looking forward to 12+ hours of flying, but I’ll manage.
/
/
/
/This would be a great time to list all the things I’m bringing with me, but I don’t have time right now, sorry.
/
/
/
/I’ve said my goodbyes to friends and family. Everyone asks if I’m nervous, and I say “a little”. But really, no, I don’t feel nervous. I feel invigorated! I’m ready to go to Japan. I’m ready to have an adventure.
/
/
/
/Yeah, I’m leaving a lot behind. But I have Skype; I’ll still talk to people.
/
/
/
/I’m looking forward to this.
/
/It’s gonna be awesome. =)
